Product Name: Opove M3 Pro Max

Handheld deep tissue percussion massagers have come a long way in the last year or two, and the Opove M3 Pro Max Massage Gun is a good example of just how much the technology has advanced. Although we still like the Theragun PRO, a price of $599 just isn’t affordable for everyone. And now, we have the Opove massage gun, which is less than a quarter of the cost but with powerful enough features. Could it be good enough to rival the most expensive percussion massager on the market? This Opove M3 Pro review will take a closer look at a massage gun that could potentially dethrone some of its more expensive competitors! Or could it? Let’s take a closer look to find out the truth…

What is the Opove M3 Pro?

The Opove M3 Pro was the original massage gun from Opove which was a bestseller with thousands of 5-star customer reviews. In 2022 it has been replaced by the Opove Apex and the M3 Pro Max version – both upgraded versions that are even more impressive, both on paper and in the real world. These are handheld massage guns with features like variable speed (percussions per minute), decent battery life, a solid build, and five detachable massage applicators.

This review covers what to expect from Opove’s M3 Pro Max, including pros and cons, and the features to be excited about (there are quite a few):

Specifications

  • Weight: 2.3 pounds (pretty light and easy to handle – definitely as good as any other massage gun in this respect)
  • Dimensions (package): 15.6 x 9.1 x 3.5 inches
  • Modes: variable speed (4 different levels up to 3300 rpm)
  • Battery: Lithium-Ion battery (included) with 4 hours of usage between charges
  • Accessories: charger, 5 massage attachments, stylish free carry case included

Design and Build Quality

The new Opove M3 Pro Max looks and feels premium and high-quality. It has a beautiful black finish with an ergonomically designed non-slip handle for easy grip. Build-wise, there’s little to complain about as the percussion massager looks and feels solid in the hand.

LED lights are at the back of the handheld massager. They indicate battery life as well as the selected speed. Handling is quite effortless thanks to this thoughtful ergonomic design. At 2.3 pounds, the M3 Pro Max is exceptionally light.  Overall, it is built solidly and is easy to use, even for novices. It doesn’t hurt that the design is also visually appealing – this new version looks and feels like a more modern and premium version of the previous Opove M3 Pro. This is a massager that will never be an eyesore, you’ll be proud to be seen with this in hand! Opove scores high marks when it comes to building quality and aesthetics.

Opove M3 Pro Max Features

1. Variable Speed Settings

The Opove M3 Pro Max has four different speed settings to suit a wider range of massages. It has a maximum speed of 3,300 RPM (revolutions/percussions per minute), but if you need a slower, more focused massage, you have the option of stepping it down to 2,400 RPM, or even as low as 1,800 RPM.

Percussion massagers with adjustable speed settings allow you to tailor the pressure and intensity to suit different purposes. You can go with a faster speed setting to care for sore muscles or warm up before a workout, while the slower speeds are perfect for relaxing muscles.

2. Brushless Motor

Because it is equipped with a brushless high-torque motor, power is never an issue with the M3 Pro Max. You will never feel like you’re not getting enough vibrations whether you want a high-intensity massage or a slow relaxing one.

The motor maxes out at 3,300 PPM (that’s even higher than the Theragun’s max 2400 PPM), which is plenty of power to deliver a really deep tissue massage. It is also optimized to use battery power efficiently, so you don’t run out of juice too frequently.

3. Quiet usage

You would expect the high-torque motor under the hood of the massage gun to be noisy, but that’s not the case.

At its noisiest, the Opove M3 Pro Max registers between 45 and 63 decibels (the lower the level, the quieter the noise, and vice versa). This is slightly above conversational noise but more than quiet enough to use while chatting or watching TV.

It IS slightly louder than the previous M3 Pro, but that’s because of more power = louder massager (only slightly though).

4. Manufactured with anti-drop materials

This percussion massager is ergonomically designed and easy to handle, but if you happen to drop it, is protected by a shockproof outer shell. Because of it, the handheld massager can survive drops from up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) high, which is impressive and very reassuring!

5. Interchangeable Applicators

The Opove M3 Pro Max comes with five massage attachments that are interchangeable:

  • Fork Shaped – this is for applying targeted pressure on the spine, neck, and Achilles
  • Flat Shaped – this facilitates targeted muscle-relaxing massages that encourage muscle plasticity
  • Bullet – this provides deep tissue massages and enhances the massager’s precision for when you need to target specific muscle groups
  • Ball Shaped – this applicator enables you to massage bulk muscle groups like the muscles around your waist and back, your glutes, your thighs, your arms, and even your thighs
  • Soft tissue – this is a softer head that can be used for treating injuries or more tender areas

The applicators are easy to switch and drastically improve the massager’s functionality.

6. Lithium-Ion Battery

Thanks to its lithium-ion battery, the Opove M3 Pro Max handheld massager can perform massages endlessly and can charge quite quickly. It takes about 4 hours to drain the battery, so expect little to no downtime between your warm-up and cool-down sessions.

Opove M3 Pro Pros

  • Almost as powerful as some massagers that are 3x the price (high amplitude and stall force)
  • Great build quality and good ergonomic design
  • Powerful high-torque motor
  • Adjustable speed and intensity settings
  • Quiet enough to use when watching TV or chatting
  • The sturdy anti-drop outer shell
  • Comes with five massage heads (suitable for treating all the muscle groups) and a carrying case
  • 30-day money-back guarantee & 1-year warranty included

Opove M3 Pro Cons

  • 4 hours of battery life isn’t the longest, but more powerful massagers do tend to have shorter battery life. It’s not much of a con though considering that you’ll probably still get around 2 weeks of use between charges (at about 15 minutes per session).

How does the new Max version compare to the original Opove M3 Pro?

The Opove M3 Pro Max has been upgraded in a number of ways.

  • It has a new more modern-looking design. The new all-black model is similarly shaped but it looks more expensive and has a more durable outer shell.
  • The new M3 Pro Max is all-round more powerful than the original M3 Pro – the RPM is faster (3300 vs 3200), the stall force is stronger (55 lbs vs only 25 lbs) and the amplitude is deeper (15mm vs 12mm)
  • It’s only very slightly heavier at 2.3lbs vs the old 2.2lbs
  • It’s also slightly louder, but that comes with the territory when you’ve got a more powerful massager. It’s not noticeably louder though and is still quiet for a massage gun.
  • Of course, because it’s significantly more powerful, it does cost more than the M3 Pro. It’s still cheaper than most other massage guns on the market with similar power specs though!

Opove M3 Pro Max vs more expensive massage guns – How does it measure up?

The Opove M3 Pro Max RPM (percussions/revolutions per minute) are comparable to most other massage guns on the market (33oo RPM). In fact, it’s actually higher than the almost $600 Theragun Pro which is usually considered to be the “gold standard” of massage guns.

The original M3 Pro had a pretty low stall force of just 25 lbs, which meant that you couldn’t press in hard for an intense massage  Now though, the M3 Pro Max has a stall force of 55 lbs, which is up there with the best of the best! The Theragun’s stall force is 60 lbs, so there’s very little difference between them. The “stall force” is the amount of force you can use in applying the massage gun to your muscles before it cuts out.

Also, the amplitude or “stroke length” (impact depth) is 15mm vs the Theragun’s 16mm which is very close. The previous model (and most other massagers on the market in this price range) only have a stroke length of 12mm. 12mm isn’t bad, but if you’re looking for a strong deep tissue massage, 14mm or over is a must.

As you can see, the Opove M3 Pro Max compares very favorably to the most powerful and most expensive models on the market. For professionals and fitness enthusiasts it’s important to have a device that has enough power and force to reach into the deepest layers of the muscles. The M3 Pro Max can do this.

Note: This does have some advantages over its more high-end competitors –  it’s slightly lighter in weight, it has a longer battery life, and of course, it’s cheaper!

Final Word: Is this massage gun worth the investment?

As you can see from our Opove M3 Pro Max review, this is a great handheld massager, but is it the right one for you?

Let’s look at the facts. It is a mid-range percussion massager with the power of a high-end model. It has an excellent build, some great features, and a reasonable battery life to boot. It’s definitely NOT an entry-level device given the level of performance it has been designed to handle. It’s very easy to use though.

Variable intensity settings and the choice of five massage attachment heads give you the freedom to tailor your massages to suit your needs. Whether you need to relax, treat muscle soreness, improve range of motion, speed up recovery time post-workout, target knots, and tight spots, or pamper yourself with a massage. As a bonus, you get a wonderful free carrying case where you can pack the Opove M3 PRO Max massager and all its accessories and ship them conveniently to wherever you please.

Is the Opove M3 Pro Max as good as the Theragun or Hypervolt (our top picks)? For sure, it has many of the same features and is just as good in many ways – it’s certainly got the power to rival them. The main difference really is in the price. It also lacks Bluetooth, but then Bluetooth isn’t at all necessary for a good massage – it’s mainly just a gimmick to drive up the price of the higher-end models. The Opove is a great choice as evidenced by the positive user reviews.

The Opove M3 Pro Max is not likely to disappoint anyone looking for a powerful handheld massager. Even professionals will find value in this excellently built massager so it’s definitely worth checking. If it’s not for you, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee. The product is also backed by a 1-year warranty. If you have any questions about our Opove M3 Pro review just post in the comments box below!
