Exerscribe Vybe Massage Gun Review: Is This Budget Percussion Massager Good?

Handheld massagers have become increasingly popular in recent years, offering a convenient and affordable way to relieve sore muscles and promote relaxation. The Exerscribe Vybe is one such massager that has been gaining attention for its power, versatility, and ease of use. In this review, we will take a closer look at the Exerscribe Vybe, examining its key features, benefits, and drawbacks, so you can decide if it is the right choice for your massage needs. Whether you are an athlete, fitness enthusiast, or just looking for a way to unwind after a long day, the Exerscribe Vybe may be just what you need to take your massage experience to the next level.

In this article, we’re going to look at a massage gun from Exerscribe, one that’s proving to be very popular at the moment despite its budget price. But being one of the cheapest available, how does it stand up against the (much) more expensive models that everyone’s currently raving about? This massager could potentially save you hundreds of dollars, but can it really produce the same results? Read on for our Exerscribe Vybe review to find out if this is the massage gun for you…

Why would you use a percussion massager?

You know the wear and tear your body takes each day, especially if you work out hard and put in the maximum effort each time you hit the gym. A deep tissue massage is great but expensive, and you have to go for one regularly to achieve the best results. With the average cost of a massage being between $80 and $120 per session, the cost will add up very quickly. However, your muscles, joints, and tissue need adequate recovery and pressure, to continually produce at the highest levels. A good handheld percussion massager can deliver the same power, precision, and relief as a massage therapist, and you can use it on yourself, from the comfort of your own home. They can be costly (up to $600) but the Exerscribe Vybe costs A LOT less.

Let’s take a look at its features:

Vybe Massage Gun Features

When choosing a personal massager, you obviously want something that delivers power, precision, and usable features. These are some of the great ways in which Exerscribe Vybe will help improve and speed up your recovery times.

Three-Massage Ball

Exerscribe Personal Percussion Massage Gun - VYBE Handheld Deep Muscle Massager The handheld massager features three different massage balls users can choose from while massaging. This ensures they achieve the perfect pressure levels, and also makes it easier to reach the right spot with the massager.

The Exerscribe Vybe massager includes:

  1. Standard Ball which is best for small muscle groups
  2. Large Ball to massage large muscle groups
  3. Cone which is intended for deep tissue and attacking set in knots

Depending on how much pressure you want to apply, and where you’re massaging on your body, these three attachment heads make it easy for you to pinpoint powerful precision and relief with the massage gun.

It’s also extremely compact, making it easy for you to transport with you virtually anywhere. Immediate relief after a strenuous workout at the gym is possible, or if you’re traveling and need to relieve stress and tightness after a long day, you can easily pack the portable massager with you on the go.

Six-Speed Settings

There are six different speed settings and power options you can choose from when utilizing the Exerscribe Vybe for massage and relief. Depending on the power level you choose for massaging, you can set the massage gun from 500 up to 2400 strokes per minute. It’s easy to adjust with a twist-dial knob on the side of the massage gun. Just twist from 1 to 6, to set the perfect power level when massaging different muscle groups.

Adjustable Massaging Arm

The powerful percussion massager features an adjustable, tilting massage head. The massage arm rotates 90 degrees, allowing users to easily attack tough-to-reach areas, and maximize the powerful percussion at higher speed settings. With the ergonomic grip design, this gives you a full range of motion for massaging the back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, or other areas of the body where you feel tension building up.

Ergonomic Grip & Push Control

Exerscribe Personal Percussion Massage Gun - VYBE Handheld Deep Muscle Massager The ergonomic grip design of the Vybe massage gun is excellent for both left and right-hand users. It’s easy to control with the push button control. There’s no need to hold down the power button for the massager to operate. The trigger release system simply requires users to push the power button down, and the massager stays on, freeing up all of your fingers/hands for maximum control. The powerful, self-recovery massager is easy to control, affording users more precision in attacking different areas of the body in need of relief.

What can you use Exerscribe Vybe for?

There are multiple uses for your Exerscribe Vybe. It’s not just for the serious athlete (although athletes will greatly benefit from this lightweight, portable massager). Some of the most common uses include:

  • Relieving aches, pain, and strain after an injury or strenuous workout
  • Muscle or deep tissue massage with the different ball/cone head attachments
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Removing knots in troubled areas
  • Increasing range of motion and engaging muscle groups which are underutilized
  • Relief for chronic sore muscles or chronic body aches and pain

The handheld massager can also be utilized for recovery and rehab treatment when coming back from an injury. By relieving stress, removing knots, and helping increase blood flow in the body, athletes will find it helps them get back on their feet faster, and improve overall range and mobility in their respective sport.

The Benefits and Drawbacks

It’s also important for consumers to understand the good and bad features of a product before investing in it. With the Exerscribe Vybe, there are several great features. However, there are some drawbacks worth mentioning as well, which are detailed here.

The Pros

Some of the best features this Vybe massage gun include:

  • Immediate relief from pain, tension, and knots in the body
  • It’s portable, compact, cordless, and lightweight (about 3.5 pounds) for ease of transport
  • It includes two battery packs, so you can keep using the massager while recharging the second battery pack (30-minute each battery on a full charge)
  • The three attachment heads give users full control of how deep they get into muscles for relief
  • The rotating massage arm and ergonomic grip design result in a wider range of motion and mobility to enhance your massage
  • The six-speed adjustment setting allows users to dictate how much pressure they’re applying with the handheld massager

The Cons

There are some drawbacks worth noting as well including:

  • It’s loud, rated at 80 to 100-decibel noise level, so users might choose to wear earplugs if massaging the shoulder/neck area
  • The pressure is much higher than traditional massagers, so it might be too much for some users (too powerful even on lower-level settings)
  • It delivers up to 60 pounds max force pressure, which many users might not know how to control initially (requires a learning curve)

How does it compare to more expensive models?

Although percussion massagers haven’t been extensively tested, it’s fair to say that as long as the power is the same, you should get reasonably similar results. The Vybe offers very powerful percussion vibration at up to 2400 strokes per minute, which is actually the same as the most expensive (and probably the most popular) massage gun, the Theragun.

Sure there are differences – the Vybe doesn’t “feel” quite as well built and durable, the battery doesn’t last as long (although there’s a spare one included), and it’s REALLY loud. But if you don’t see those differences as a big deal, the price is definitely right in comparison. Do you really need to pay  4 times as much for the top model? Probably not, unless you want THE BEST and can afford it. The Vybe is perfectly capable of giving you a very similar deep massage though and pretty much the same physical benefits.

Exerscribe Vybe vs Vybe Pro

Exerscribe Vybe Review2019 saw the introduction of a newer and upgraded PRO model. Similar to the original, it is VERY affordably priced compared to many of its competitors. Obviously with some premium features though, it does cost about $60 extra. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s a different shape and looks completely different.

In comparison to the Vybe’s 2400, this offers 3200 strokes per minute so is significantly more powerful for an even deeper tissue massage. At approximately 60 decibels, it’s also a lot quieter! Instead of just ball and cone attachments, it comes with new shaped attachments including a ball, bullet, fork, and flat head for different types of massage. Lastly, it has a massively improved battery life of up to 4 hours.

It’s not a whole lot more expensive, but it’s worth checking out if you’re interested in the Exerscribe brand. You’ll still get everything you need from the original, but if you want a  few more “bells and whistles” do take a look at the user reviews on Amazon.

Who’s the Exerscribe Vybe for?

This massage tool is definitely not for everyone! Ultimately, a handheld massage gun is built more for the serious athlete, avid outdoor enthusiast, or individuals who’ve had deep tissue massages in the past, and know how painful they can be. It is a recovery tool.

Who should avoid buying this massage gun?

  • Anyone looking for a Sunday afternoon massage at a calming spa
  • Individuals who don’t like loud noises (think the same level as a power drill)
  • Those who aren’t going to utilize the max force to attack knots, and troubled areas, and really dig deep to achieve the desired relief.

Who’s it for?

Athletes or individuals who suffer from chronic fatigue or chronic muscle pain. It’s also suitable for those looking for relief from tension and body aches caused by high levels of stress and strain on the body. If you can handle a deep tissue massage, you might like owning this handy little massager for at-home use as well!

Vybe Massage Gun Review Conclusion

Ultimately, the machine is powerful, and extremely loud, but delivers excellent muscular, joint, and body relief for those who work their bodies regularly and engage in physical activity regularly. If you’re looking for a basic handheld massager, this isn’t it! If instead, you want power, precision, muscle, joint, tension, and pain relief, the Exerscribe Vybe is a great option to consider, and a worthwhile investment for those who are serious about taking care of their bodies, because of the strain they place on it from physical activity. It might be inexpensive, but that doesn’t mean it’s inferior – far from it! This was one of the best percussion massagers of 2020 and 2 years on is still selling in 2022. I hope you’ve found our Exerscribe Vybe review useful – if you’ve tried this product we’d love to hear your feedback!
